Ryan Arthur
14 years designing and building digital products inside small, mighty teams. I take B2B SaaS, enterprise, and 0-to-1 products from story-mapped discovery to production code, prototyping in the browser alongside the people who build them. I learned the practice at Launch Scout, refined it at Configure, and now run it at Ryan Arthur Digital with AI-assisted pipelines I build myself, where the agents prepare the drafts and people make the decisions.

Product Designer and Founder, Ryan Arthur Digital
2022 to Present
Independent practice partnering with founders, product teams, and agencies, owning research, UX, UI, prototyping, and front-end code.
- Led discovery for a private-pay pilot, a new line of business for AddnAide's home-healthcare platform, from kickoff to a clickable product in 3 weeks. Real users logged into the prototype for remote testing recorded in PostHog.
- Before the pilot, redesigned AddnAide's time-entry, review, and admin workflows, shipping every mockup as a full-fidelity Phoenix LiveView prototype, mobile-first for aides in the field, with EVV and compliance flows built so the compliant path is the easy path.
- Cut 128 user stories to 49 must-haves using success metrics set with the client in discovery, then estimated each one from the existing code. The pilot landed at about 235 hours against 240 contracted.
- Built 17 Phoenix LiveView screens in 5 days from 27 generated HTML wireframes, which were regenerated 9 times in 8 days. Wireframes, estimates, and tests all came from the same user story.
- Had a draft ready each morning from a Claude Code pipeline of 7 AI agents and skills, linked to the project board via MCP. People made every decision and sent all client work.
- Won a NASA Tournament Lab challenge with a ground control station interface that let one operator monitor and control multiple autonomous aircraft.
UX Engineer, Configure, Inc.
2023 to 2025
Hired full-time after Configure spent a year as a Ryan Arthur Digital client, where I ran the Auto Submittals and Configure Clipboards design sprints. Sole designer for Configure 2.0, an AI-assisted construction-procurement marketplace.
- Replaced manual bid leveling with Bid Day, covering Basis of Design setup, PDF quote import, multi-vendor comparison, and exportable selections, designed and shipped as Blazor and Razor components.
- Took Configure Clipboards from a contract-year sprint demo to a shipped submittals workflow where stakeholders open a shared Clipboard by short code, suggest swaps, and send to order.
- Designed the multi-sided Atlas marketplace, including manufacturer and supplier storefronts, search, professional networking, an activity feed, and SignalR-driven notifications with embedded CometChat.
- Designed Configure Assistant, the platform's AI product-recommendation chat, partnering with the AI team on a knowledge-graph backend built on ontoGPT and OpenAI function-calling.
- Built one design system across the 8-app Configure product suite (2020 to 2025), with about 450 Blazor components and roughly 44,000 lines of hand-authored CSS and SCSS, all in code with no Figma-to-production handoff.
UX Designer, Launch Scout
2012 to 2022
10 years at a custom-software consultancy designing B2B SaaS, enterprise, and 0-to-1 products across finance, pharma, manufacturing, AEC, aviation, and Web3.
- Led design for a KLH Engineers offshoot from design sprint to proof of concept (Atlas), which secured more than $1.5M in seed funding and Autodesk buy-in, and spun out as the standalone Configure startup.
- Designed PRESTO for E-Beam Services, replacing paper work orders across 3 facilities in 3 states with no parallel run. The COO called it "functional software we could test."
- Ran the discovery sprint for Mitratech's banking compliance tracker, producing the user story map and UI flow outline that anchored development.
- Shipped front ends for Omnicare's real-time pharmacy-pricing platform (a CVS Health company) and the open-source BlockScout blockchain explorer for POA Network.
- Practiced a discovery-led process where user story mapping anchored every engagement and the "Design Sandwich" kept UX, development, and UI iterating together instead of handing off.
